The rainy day kingdom
Jen sat by her window, watching the raindrops race down the glass. It had been raining all morning, and while some people might have found that boring, Jen knew better. Rainy days were full of magic—you just had to know where to look.
She turned to Bubbles, who was sprawled on her bed, flipping through a comic book. “We need a plan,” she announced. “A rainy-day adventure!”
Bubbles looked up. “Does it involve pizza?”
“Not yet,” Jen said. “First, we build a kingdom!”
And so, the Great Blanket Fort Kingdom was born. They draped sheets over chairs and tucked pillows inside to make the coziest castle imaginable. Jen became Queen Jen of Rainyland, wearing a paper crown she had carefully decorated with glitter. Bubbles was Sir Bubbles the Brave, the kingdom’s Royal Advisor (though most of his advice involved ordering pizza).
Inside their kingdom, they made up stories about knights and dragons, ruling over their imaginary land until—disaster struck!
“Oh no!” Jen gasped. “The kingdom is under attack by the Storm Giants!”
Bubbles peeked outside the fort. “You mean the rain?”
“Exactly,” Jen said. “We need to protect the treasure!”
But first, they had to find it. That was when Jen’s mum handed her a mysterious note. It was the first clue to a treasure hunt. Jen and Bubbles raced through the house, following riddles hidden in bookshelves, under cushions, and even inside the fridge (Bubbles checked twice, just in case the treasure was actually pizza).
Finally, they discovered a small wooden box hidden under the stairs. Jen opened it and gasped. “It’s… a hot chocolate station!”
Bubbles sighed dramatically. “Not pizza, but acceptable.”
They carried their treasure back to the blanket fort and made the most delicious cups of hot chocolate, piling on extra marshmallows. As they sipped, the rain continued its steady rhythm outside, making their kingdom feel even cozier.
“Best rainy day ever,” Jen said.
Bubbles nodded. “Still think we should’ve found pizza, though.”
Jen giggled and pulled out a set of markers and paper. “Well, how about this? Let’s draw everything that happened today.”
And so, the final adventure of the day began—The Great Rainy Day Art Extravaganza. Jen painted a beautiful stormy sky with a rainbow peeking through. Bubbles, on the other hand, created a comic strip about a hippo who got lost in a giant teacup during a storm (which, he claimed, was “loosely based on true events”).
As the rain finally began to slow, Jen yawned and curled up in the fort, pulling a blanket around her shoulders. “Do you think the Storm Giants will come back tomorrow?”
Bubbles flopped onto a pillow. “I hope so. Next time, I’ll be ready—with a pizza delivery menu.”
And with that, Queen Jen and Sir Bubbles the Brave drifted off to sleep in the heart of their cozy kingdom, dreaming of the next rainy day adventure.
