The day we went to clacton on sea
Hi everyone! It’s me, Jen!
Guess what? Bubbles and I went on the best adventure ever… to Clacton-on-Sea! It’s a real seaside town in the UK, and it felt like stepping into a giant picture book full of fun and wind and seagulls. I wanted to tell you all about it, because it was so cool and also a little bit sandy.
When we got there, the first thing I noticed was the salty sea air. It tickled my nose and made Bubbles sneeze three times in a row (he always sneezes when he’s near the sea – isn’t that funny?). The sky was huge, and the sea sparkled like a giant blue mirror. You could hear the waves swishing and the seagulls calling, “Mine! Mine!” just like in the movies.
We walked along the Clacton Pier, which is this big wooden boardwalk that goes right out over the sea. It was full of flashing lights and sounds – arcade games going ping! and people laughing, and the smell of chips and doughnuts everywhere. Bubbles wanted to win a giant cuddly shark from the claw machine, but the claw was a bit wobbly, so we ended up with a tiny rubber duck instead. He named it “Captain Quack.”
Then we went down to the sandy beach, and oh my gosh, it was like walking on warm cake crumbs (but without the cake). We built a sandcastle with three towers, a moat, and a flag made from a chip wrapper. Bubbles was in charge of digging, but he kept getting distracted because he saw a pizza box floating in the sea. “I bet it smells nice,” he said. “BUBBLES, NO!” I shouted, and he stayed on the beach (thankfully!).
After that, we had ice cream from a little stand with a rainbow umbrella. I got vanilla with rainbow sprinkles. Bubbles asked for fish-flavoured ice cream, but they didn’t have it (ew!), so he settled for mint choc chip.
Before we left, we sat on a bench and watched the sun start to go down over the sea. The waves turned golden, and the sky turned peachy-orange, and everything felt calm and lovely. Bubbles leaned on my shoulder and whispered, “This has been the best day.”
And he was right.
So if you ever want to visit a place that smells like salt and chips, sounds like laughter and waves, and makes your heart feel all happy and big – go to Clacton-on-Sea.
Love,
Jen (and Bubbles and Captain Quack)
xx
P.S. Next time, we might take Miniso. If we can wake him up.
