The day we met bobble the bug

 The Day We Met Bobble

by Jen

Today started like any normal day.

Bubbles and I decided to go exploring in the garden behind my house. The sun was shining, the grass smelled like summer, and everything felt perfect.

We didn’t expect to meet a new friend.

We were poking around near the big oak tree when Bubbles suddenly froze.

“WHAT. IS. THAT?” he squeaked, pointing with his tiny hippo paw.

I looked — and nearly fell over.

There, sitting right in the middle of the grass, was the biggest bug I had ever seen.

It was about the same size as Bubbles!

It had shiny green wings, huge round eyes, and six tiny legs that kept bouncing up and down like it was too excited to sit still.

Bubbles hid behind my shoe.

“Jen,” he whispered. “It’s the end. The bug is going to eat me first, and then you.”

I tried not to laugh.

“It’s just a bug, Bubbles!” I said. “Maybe it’s friendly?”

The bug gave a little wiggle and chirped, “Hello! My name is Bobble!”

Bubbles blinked. “It talks! It talks!”

He looked ready to faint.

Bobble zipped up into the air, spun around three times, and landed with a little plop.

“I’m an Energetic Bug!” he said proudly. “I love bouncing, buzzing, and making new friends!”

Bubbles peeked out from behind me.

“You’re… not going to eat me?” he asked in a tiny voice.

Bobble laughed so hard he did a backflip.

“Eat you? No way! I only eat flower syrup and marshmallows!”

Bubbles looked at me, then at Bobble, then back at me.

Slowly, he stepped out from behind my shoe.

“Maybe… maybe we could be friends?” Bubbles said.

Bobble cheered and bounced so high he nearly landed in my hair.

“Friends! YES! Triple yes! I’ll show you how to fly without wings! I’ll teach you the Official Energetic Bug Wiggle Dance!”

And that’s exactly what we did.

We spent the whole afternoon with Bobble.

He showed us how to bounce between dandelions without touching the ground.

He taught Bubbles a special secret handshake (which mostly involved bumping heads).

And he even let me paint a tiny smiley face on his back with my sparkly nail polish (he loved it).

When the sun started setting, Bobble zipped up to the top of a rose bush and waved.

“See you tomorrow, Best Buddies!”

Bubbles waved back with both paws.

As we walked home, he whispered, “Jen… I’m really glad that bug didn’t eat me.”

I laughed.

“I’m really glad you made a new friend.”

And maybe — just maybe — the world isn’t as scary as it sometimes looks.

Especially when it’s full of energetic bugs called Bobble.

Would you also like a little “Fun Facts About Bobble” box to go at the end, like a real blog post would have?

Something like:

Fun Facts About Bobble:

– Favourite food: Flower syrup and marshmallows

– Favourite move: The Energetic Wiggle Dance

– Secret talent: Bouncing higher than Bubbles (but only just!)

Let me know! I can add it if you want!
